Merit Construction Launches "Build What Matters" Campaign
This Fall, Merit Construction is launching its new campaign, “Build What Matters”. The campaign is a marketing and branding initiative to continue sharing Merit’s vision of building the future of local communities while sparking inspiration in others within the South Sound to work towards building what matters most to them. Merit aims to encourage building places of hope, building relationships, building unity, and building stronger communities together.
“Our mission at Merit is more than just constructing buildings, we care deeply about our local communities and want to do what we can to make a positive impact on them,” says Tammy Birklid, Principal of Merit Construction, “this was our approach in 1983 when building the Tacoma Dome and this still stands true today.”
An image of the Tacoma Dome will play a special role in the “Build What Matters” campaign because it holds significant meaning to Merit, not only because they were the General Contractor that built it, but more importantly, because of the team mentality, camaraderie, and unity it inspired throughout the community before, during, and many years after it was built.
“The Tacoma Dome has been an icon in Tacoma and remains an important symbol of what people are capable of doing when they work together for a common goal,” says Birklid, “this is the message we hope to inspire with our campaign.”
The campaign highlights the important relationship Merit shares with its clients and their community. In an effort to share this message and care for the community, Merit is teaming up with local businesses including Serenity Spa, Anthem Coffee, McMenamins Elks Temple, and Wooden City Tacoma, to give away a fun-filled and rejuvenating staycation (a value over $500). The giveaway will run from October 8, 2020 – October 12, 2020. You can find more information about the giveaway on Merit’s Instagram page @Merit_Construction.
To further emphasize community and togetherness Merit has also commissioned local artist, Curtis Ashby, to paint a mural in Downtown Tacoma to capture this message. Green Air Supply generously gave them permission to paint the mural on their building located at 2523 Jefferson Ave. The intent is to encourage locals to spread the #BuildWhatMatters message by taking photos in front of the mural and sharing across social media.
