Community Involvement
As residents of the Pacific Northwest, we feel it’s our responsibility to give back to the communities we call home. The passion we display in our products is reflected in our commitment to our community. We encourage our team to share their talents on a personal level to non-profits in addition to any corporate contributions we are able to provide. Organizations we are frequently involved with include The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound, The YMCA, Safe Streets and Olive Crest. We give back to the charities that speak most deeply to us, align with our values, and that affect our community profoundly. Boys & Girls Club of South Puget Sound
The Boys & Girls Club is a nonprofit organization committed to creating safe, positive and inclusive environments for all youth and teens in order to enable them to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens.
Merit has been fortunate enough to work with and serve The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound for more than 20 years. Members of our team have dedicated to serving on their board, chairing committees, serving as board chair and assisting in procuring in-kind donations for construction projects.
On each project Merit completes for The Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound, our team donates their personal time to provide various enhancements to the work. As an example, several of our carpenters installed rock climbing walls in the facilities to show their appreciation for what the Boys & Girls Clubs of South Puget Sound provide to our community. THE YMCA
The YMCA is the leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community by connecting all people to their potential, purpose and each other. Working locally, they focus on empowering young people, improving health and well-being and inspiring action in and across communities. The Y brings people together by connecting people of all ages and backgrounds to bridge the gaps in community needs. Merit proudly partners through sponsorship with The Y.
Safe Streets
Safe Streets unites and inspires neighbors, youth and businesses to build safe, healthy, thriving communities. They have organized and trained a network of 125 Neighborhood Groups in high-risk neighborhoods, involving over 13,500 community leaders and 190,000 residents who work daily to ensure that their neighborhoods and schools are safe. Merit proudly partners through sponsorship with Safe Streets.
Olive Crest
Olive Crest is a leader in the prevention and treatment of child abuse, serving nearly 3,000 children and families each day throughout California, Nevada, and the Pacific Northwest. The organization transforms the lives of at-risk children through the healing power of family. Merit proudly partners with Olive Crest to help break the cycle of child abuse, and enable at-risk children and families to become healthy, productive citizens. Merit actively participates in the annual Christmas celebration for the Pierce County children through sponsorship and volunteering time and talents!
