Construction Accounting Lead

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Construction Accounting Lead with expertise in Sage 300 Accounting software to oversee our financial operations and ensure the accuracy and efficiency of our accounting processes. This role is ideal for an experienced accounting professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and values precision, compliance, and strategic financial management, and has a strong understanding of job cost accounting in the construction industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage daily construction accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger reconciliation.

  • Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, including month-end and year-end close processes.

  • Utilize Sage 300 Accounting software to maintain financial records and generate reports.

  • Manage job cost accounting to ensure accurate tracking of project expenses, subcontractor payments, and billing.

  • Assist with budget preparation, forecasting, and financial analysis.

  • Maintain compliance with State and Federal tax regulations, including sales tax, corporate tax, and financial reporting requirements.

  • Coordinate with external auditors and assist with audits as needed.

  • Develop and implement accounting policies and best practices to enhance efficiency.

  • Train and lead accounting staff, providing guidance on best practices and ensuring adherence to company policies.

  • Collaborate with leadership to provide financial insights and recommendations.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as an Accounting Lead, Accounting Manager, or similar role.

  • Proficiency with Sage 300 Accounting software required

  • Strong knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and tax regulations.

  • Excellent attention to detail and analytical skills.

  • Ability to manage confidential financial information with integrity.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

  • Experience in training and leading accounting staff.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred but not required with significant experience).

Job Details:

  • Part to Full Time Position

  • Competitive pay ranging from $40 to $50 per hour, based on experience

  • Benefits can be negotiated

  • Hybrid work options available (remote and in-office combination)
