White Goods Recycling

The White Goods facility at the Tacoma Landfill consisted of a 7,000 SF pre-engineered steel building, which included hoisting equipment, compressed air lines, offices, storage and restrooms. The building was fully galvanized to resist interior and exterior corrosion from the toxic environment and was engineered so that the building can be elevated off its foundation as the underlying soil and debris compress over time. The facility is used to safely recycle any white goods, including washers, dryers and refrigerators brought to the Landfill by the public. This project was awarded the Northwest Construction Consumer Council Distinguished Project Award in 2007.

I am writing to thank you and your team for your hard work and dedication in the construction of the White Goods Facility at the Tacoma Landfill. I am pleased with how smoothly the project has gone and the City’s Solid Waste Management staff is happy with the new facility. Thank you again for a job well done.
